Ron SmithOwner and stylist
Ron started out as a hairstylist in the area of Brea/Fullerton, CA. He always had dreams to open up his own salon within ten years of being in the industry. His dream came true when he signed the papers that handed over a small salon called The Bent Twig on June 2, 1994, the same day that his second son Austin was born. Within six weeks, Ron had completely remodeled this salon and named it Salon Jourdon. This salon was so successful that within one year they had outgrown the location.
On July 1, 1996, Ron moved to a larger building in the same shopping center so that he could expand on his dream salon and the big plans he had for it. Ron remodeled and updated this salon back in October 2006, then naming it Salon 860 West. This salon has been standing in this location for 21 years now!
Although Ron continues to work 3 days a week styling and managing his salon in Orange County, he and his husband Jon, decided to call Palm Springs their new home in 2015. Ron has been working a few days a week at Enzo Salon since moving here but he and his husband have embarked on a new adventure with the opening of thier own salon, Salon Jarick.
Ron continually desires for his salon to produce the best work for clients who enter Salon 860 West’s doors. Ron delights in the fact that when his clients look back at photos of their life's journey, their hair reflects a permanent fingerprint of his work.
After 25 years as a stylist and salon owner, Darrin decided to become part of this amazing community. He and his husband are happy to call Palm Springs home. As a competitive dancer and ballroom instructor before entering the beauty industry, he has learned the importance of presentation.
Darrin believes that the perfect style and color project a first impression of who you are. Creating the perfect color and style is his passion.
Darrin enjoys working in an environment that encourages and supports his creativity. ''I look forward to working with you to create your signature look!''

Fred HerdtStylistWhen Fred first started out in the beauty industry, he was in awe of the talent that was out there. Fred aspired to achieve his own high level of expertise and worked hard to obtain it. His work is extremely important to him and he enjoys the creative process when working with his clients. When a client sees the transformation, it is very satisfying to know that he can make them happy with a new haircut, color, or an updated style.
Fred began his career in the beauty industry in 2011 when he started his training at the Cinta Aveda institute in San Francisco. Halfway through this training, he moved to San Diego where he finished his education at the Paul Mitchell the School in downtown San Diego. Since then, he has taken continuing education courses with Vidal Sassoon in San Francisco, and Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica as well as additional classes in hair cutting, coloring, blonding and styling.
In June of 2012, Fred moved to Palm Springs and soon after went to work as an assistant to two stylists at J. Russell in Palm Desert. Needing to work closer to home, he joined Salon 119 & Spa in downtown Palm Springs in 2013. A short move to Los Angeles in late October of 2014 found him working at Shorty’s Barbershop in West Hollywood for 3 months until the end of the year. At that time, Fred decided to return to Palm Springs and back to Salon 119 & Spa where he was a stylist until January 2018. Fred has now joined “Salon Jarick” in downtown Palm Springs and is loving his new work home.
Just a little more about Fred: He started a career in the financial industry in 1986 until 2009 when it was time to change careers into the beauty industry. Transitioning to the beauty industry was a challenging experience, to say the least, but Fred is so glad that he did because he’s really good at what he does and he loves his work.
A tidbit about Fred Herdt is his mantra…“If your hair’s not becoming to you, you should be coming to me!
