When Fred first started out in the beauty industry, he was in awe of the talent that was out there. Fred aspired to achieve his own high level of expertise and worked hard to obtain it. His work is extremely important to him and he enjoys the creative process when working with his clients. When a client sees the transformation, it is very satisfying to know that he can make them happy with a new haircut, color, or an updated style.
Fred began his career in the beauty industry in 2011 when he started his training at the Cinta Aveda institute in San Francisco. Halfway through this training, he moved to San Diego where he finished his education at the Paul Mitchell the School in downtown San Diego. Since then, he has taken continuing education courses with Vidal Sassoon in San Francisco, and Goldwell Academy in Santa Monica as well as additional classes in hair cutting, coloring, blonding and styling.
In June of 2012, Fred moved to Palm Springs and soon after went to work as an assistant to two stylists at J. Russell in Palm Desert. Needing to work closer to home, he joined Salon 119 & Spa in downtown Palm Springs in 2013. A short move to Los Angeles in late October of 2014 found him working at Shorty’s Barbershop in West Hollywood for 3 months until the end of the year. At that time, Fred decided to return to Palm Springs and back to Salon 119 & Spa where he was a stylist until January 2018. Fred has now joined “Salon Jarick” in downtown Palm Springs and is loving his new work home.
Just a little more about Fred: He started a career in the financial industry in 1986 until 2009 when it was time to change careers into the beauty industry. Transitioning to the beauty industry was a challenging experience, to say the least, but Fred is so glad that he did because he’s really good at what he does and he loves his work.
A tidbit about Fred Herdt is his mantra…“If your hair’s not becoming to you, you should be coming to me!
